couchpotatocommentary Train Wreck CharlieWell unless you have lived under a rock for the past week it’s been hard not to notice the crazy person formerly known as Charlie Sheen that has been on every form of media.  It seems like around this time every year we have a celeb that goes nuts.  Last year it was Mel Gibson’s recorded phone messages that we were all laughing at.  Now; I will admit that as horrible as Mel Gibson’ s ranting was, it was still hilarious, but they were missing something.  The visual.  Sure you could visualize it in your head Mel’s blood vessels bursting, but that’s something people who read books do.  I like movies and TV so I want to see the person going crazy and that’s exactly what we have with Charlie Sheen.  It’s the full Monty; you get to see all the craziness up close.   We get to see the expression on his face when he rattles off lines like “I am on a drug, it’s called Charlie Sheen. It’s not available because if you try it you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body” and, my personal favorite “CBS  picked a fight with a warlock”.

Now this may not be the best thing for Charlie Sheen but if I were the network I would restart production on Two and a Half Men immediately.  Even if it was just four episodes I guarantee they would be some of the highest rated shows on all of television just because people want to see what this crazy person is up to.  Sadly that will not happen and odds are this story won’t end well.  Charlie needs help but he doesn’t want it so no one is to blame but himself.  Until he decides to get help and not think that he “cured it with my[his] brain,” the spiral will continue.

Love how you describe the parts of oevselrus we keep hidden from others and avoid looking at oevselrus. Great to see you quoted in this article. You use great analogies. I wish there had been room to advise folks on how to work with those scared 6 year-old parts of us which I know you teach so well.
