This month, we celebrated the New Year and the return of our favorite CW originals. The Vampire Diaries kicked off the second half of season 3 on January 5th.  As we celebrated this joyous occasion, one of our favorite stars celebrated for another reason. Nina Dobrev, Elena on The Vampire Diaries, celebrated her 23rd birthday on January 9th.

Of course, we say a happy birthday to Nina and wish her all the best for the new season. But after the cake has gone stale and the helium leaks out of the balloons, what is a 23-year-old, vampire lover to do? We celebrate the first legal drink of a 21-year-old all year, and after that, no birthday really feels the same.

I wanted to remind us “old folks” that there is life after 21. The Tampa Bay area is full of exciting entertainment, so here are just a few ideas to keep you going, at least until the next birthday.

Captain Memo’s Original Pirate Cruise

Clearwater Beach is hiding a secret treasure: Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise. People of all ages are welcome on Captain Memo’s Cruises. The cruise offers activities for everyone, like face painting and dancing. The cruise also offers beer, wine or champagne while sailing the seas. It is the perfect beach day, pastime.

Splitsville

Oh, to be young again! Some of the most fun we had as children was spent in rented shoes. Taste a small piece of nostalgia at Splitsville in Channelside, near downtown Tampa.  Splitsville offers that old-time feel of the bowling alleys we grew up in with a slight, up-scale edge. You can test your coordination and bowl under the influence with a drink (or two… lol) or take a break and grab a bite to eat from a menu unlike the bowling alleys of yore.

Columbia Restaurant

Many of us have partial memories of nights spent in Ybor. It is the place many of us had our fist drink (legal, or not so legal) and others may have had their last. But there is a side to Ybor tucked away behind the loud music and mini skirts. The Columbia Restaurant is a little piece of history in Ybor City. The restaurant offers authentic food and something extra. The Columbia has brought the art of cigar rolling to the Tampa Bay area. See a different side of Ybor at the Columbia Restaurant.

Before your night on the town, remember to check out The Vampire Diaries Thursdays at 8pm.
