I love a little variety. I want variety in the food I eat, the clothes I wear and (most importantly) the shows I watch. TV lovers around the world have the show that they just cant miss; well, I have like 9 or 10 shows that I just can’t miss.
I need something new to fill my incessant TV fix. So you can just imagine my excitement when I heard about the laundry list of pilots CW is now considering. According to Entertainment Weekly, some of the many pilot options include The Carrie Diaries, Arrow and Beauty and the Beast.
If you are a Sex and the City fan, The Carrie Diaries may interest you the most. The Carrie Diaries acts as a prequel to the beloved Sex and the City. The show will follow a young (16-17 year old) Carrie Bradshaw and her journey to Manhattan. Thom Sherman, CW’s development head says, “Carrie at 16 found her first love and it’s not a boy- it’s Man-hattan…”
Arrow is a DC Comics adaptation reminiscent of CW’s Smallville. The main character is a superhero that is slightly less super than the heroes we have come to idolize. Sherman says, “His skills set is that he’s an archer, but he also has physical strength and prowess. He’s clever and able to devise ways of taking down a bad guy that are unique and fun to watch.” It sounds like a great rendition of a real life superhero.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Beauty and the Beast is “about a young woman’s search for love in today’s society.” The “beast” character is a strong, sensitive man with a bit of an anger issue. He becomes a “beast” when he looses his cool. Our leading lady just wants to find love, but will she find it in the arms of this beast?
I am always excited to see what the CW has to offer. They never cease to bring us the most exciting and entertaining hits that we just can’t stop talking about. Hopefully, these pilots will give us all something to look forward to night after night.
