TacoSon is known for their authentic and incredibly delicious menu. They serve everything from Chimichangas to Flautas, and they serve it right. TacoSon is a little, family owned restaurant in Tampa (with a new location in St. Pete!). The family hails from Sonora, Mexico… get it, Sonora, TacoSon.

Their tacos are notorious in Tampa. Their authentic, homemade style is a much needed break from the TacoBells of our time. Their prices are super affordable and they are open early. Grab a taco at 6:30 in the morning and get a taste for real Mexican food.

Possibly one of the most unique spots in Tampa, Taco Bus serves up authentic Mexican food in a fun, friendly Mexican atmosphere. Literally served out the window of a stationary bus, Taco Bus dishes out some awesome tacos, burritos, tostadas, tortas, quesadillas, rice and beans.  And if you’re a guacamole lover, Taco Bus has some of the freshest guac on this side of the Bay.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Taco Bus has something no matter the time of day. They now have a new location in St. Petersburg!

This place is definitely a dive, it’s the kind of place that you would drive by everyday and never think to stop. (I actually did this for a while.) Thankfully I had a friend take me here one day and I fell in love. The tacos are fresh and everything is made to order. I had the fish (tempura Grouper) tacos exactly how the come with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, shredded cabbage and some sort of hot sauce. They were absolutely delicious! I ordered two of them and could barely finish the second one because they were so filling. For those who maybe aren’t so keen on fish they also have carne asada, pork, beef, chicken or vegetarian.

Their menu also consists of all the other good stuff like burritos, quesadillas and tostadas, to name a few… and something I have never seen before, perfectly named “Surfer Munchies,” which is marinated carrots, onions and jalapenos, all served in a plastic baggy.

This place was even featured on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” I’m not quite sure which one this is, but it’s definitely worth trying out!
