The majority of people today don’t realize that the “old-school” brand of hip-hop even still exists. There is a lot of “B-boys” and “B-girls” in the Tampa Bay community and break-dancing is poised to make a comeback!
Believe it or not there is a HUGE community of break-dancers still rocking the streets, organizing events, and doing their thing, with a little help from companies like Red Bull (who regularly sponsor and host B-boy events) they might be coming back into the spotlight soon.
B-boys and B-girls are often misunderstood because too many people associate “hip-hop” strictly with the hard-core-explicit-ganster-rap that has been the media trend the last few years. But the fact is, hip-hop was created out of love for all the good music that has come along so far, and the desire to revitalize, recycle, recreate, and enjoy the classic Motown, R&B, and doo-wop hits that we all know and love.
See the 90’s come back to life at these break-dancing events throughout Tampa Bay! Many of them are family oriented, daytime events or shows, and all are far from what you would expect!
