October is the official month for breast cancer awareness. All month-long, there will be tons of events nationwide supporting the cause. Tampa Bay is in no shortage of events either, so we want to highlight some of the most popular events you can support. This list is, by no means, exhaustive, but if you’ve got the time, why don’t you check them out.
Komen Florida Suncoast Race for the Cure: The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested over $1 billion. The local Florida Suncoast Affiliate began in 1999 and has raised over $10 million. This year’s Race for the Cure will take place Oct. 6 at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. Register or donate here.
Susan G. Komen 3-Day: Also apart of the Komen umbrella is the 3-Day. As the name suggests, it’s a three-day event where participants walk a total of 60 miles, to bring awareness. Tampa Bay’s 3-Day will take place Oct. 26-28. Click here for more information.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: The “Put on Your Pink Bra” Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is one of the American Cancer Society’s most popular walks. This year, the walk will take place Oct. 20 at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. Click here for more information.
Pinktober: With all the walking and fundraising you’ll be doing, you’ll need something to help you relax. Luckily, the Seminole Hard Rock Café and Casino has got you covered. Pinktober consists of a month’s worth of concerts, specials, and exclusive merchandise where portions of the proceeds will go to cancer research. Find out more information here.
