I spend a lot of time on this blog talking about things that are trending, and while I will continue to do that in 2013 this particular post is about what’s UN-trending in 2013. “Un-trending” is term I just made up and means it was a trend in 2012, but is now losing its appeal in 2013. Trends come and go, and some just NEED to go away forever! Let us know below what you think of our picks.
1. Talon Nails
Whether you’re Lady Gaga, Beyoncé or just trying to claw someone’s eyes out.. this nail trend is officially over in 2013.
What to do instead: Short and natural
2. Dip-Dyed Ends
At first we really liked this look, but now it’s just too much and needs to stop immediately.
What to do instead: Natural highlights
3. Too-Much Sheer
There’s a fine line between sexy and trashy and this sheer trend isn’t helping.
What to do instead: Sheer is not the problem, the lack of clothing under the sheer clothing is the problem. Just cover it up a little more ladies.
4. Half-shaved Heads
I just threw this one in the mix, because I think it’s pretty awful and will probably be a pain to grow that hair back.
What to do instead: Don’t shave anymore of your head.. and if you did, grow it out a bit and add some extensions.
5. Flatform Shoes
Isn’t the point of heels, to make your legs look better…? Although I understand they are more comfortable that regular heels, they are hideous and do nothing for your legs!
What to do instead: After you burn those ugly shoes, go buy a pair of platform wedges and call it a day!
6. Printed Pants
While I don’t particularly hate this look on other people, I think most of the world has realized we can’t wear these patterned jeans. That is, without making our legs look like they are fighting each other.
What to do instead: Solid colored pants are still trending. If you haven’t found a pair you like, try out darker colors, they are more slimming.
Let’s face it, 3% of people in the world can wear jumpsuits and still look good. If you are one of those people rock it out, but if you’re like me, let’s steer clear of this look in 2013.
What to do instead: Try a monochromatic look, using one color in different shades. Monochrome can be hard to pull off, but when done properly, it’s amazing! Check here for tips to make monochromatic colors work for you.
Well there you have it, the top seven un-trends of 2013 so far! I’ll be back next year with a whole new arsenal of trends for 2013!! Happy New Year!
