If there were a photo next to the definition of “hot geek” in the dictionary, Felicia Day’s photo would probably be the first to appear. The actress, who appeared in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and recently returned to CW’s Supernatural, talks about her new YouTube gig Geek & Sundry. Forbes.com interviewed Day about her channel. John Gaudiosi of Forbes.com wrote, “Day attended WonderCon 2013 in Anaheim with fellow Geek & Sundry creatives like Wil Wheaton (Star Trek, The Big Bang Theory), Veronica Belmont and Tom Merritt (Sword & Laser) and Paul and Storm (w00tstock). The channel, which launched with six series, will continue to expand.”
In Gaudiosi’s interview with the television star he asked “How do you feel the way women in ‘nerdy culture’ has changed over time?” Day replied,
“I think it’s really interesting. Definitely, geek or nerd culture has evolved a lot. Some of the things that we traditionally love have gotten very popular; a lot of blockbuster movies, and just everything. With that, there have been some growing pains. I don’t self-identify, necessarily, as a girl geek or a girl gamer. I self-identify as a gamer or a geek, and I just happen to be a girl. I happen to dress as cute as I want or as shlubby as I want, and don’t really bother to worry about what people outside me judge me as.”
An innovative, talented and take-me-as-I-am kind of gal… you go girl!
