Country Stars Tweet to Oklahoma Families

The people we refer to as “celebrities” are either born into fame or are discovered through either a reality show, talent show, or even just on a street corner – the point is, they all came from somewhere.

Carrie Underwood grew up in little ol’Checotah, Oklahoma before reaching stardom on the talent show, American Idol, back in 2005. Country legend, Toby Keith, is also an Oklahoma native. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are currently living in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

Although these country stars may live a more glamorous lifestyle than the average Oklahoman, they all share something in common; Oklahoma is their home and it always will be their home. I’m sure everyone has heard about the devastating tornado that destroyed homes and buildings all across Moore, Oklahoma. A total of 24 people lost their lives that day and two elementary schools were hit with a direct blow, leaving some children trapped.

Country stars who call Oklahoma “home” were grieving as a result of the lives lost that day, but they wanted to let the people in Oklahoma know that they are praying for them and that they love them.

Here are some of the kind words and condolences that celebrities tweeted to the families:

Blake Shelton tweeted, “Just landed in LA and hearing about all the tornadoes in Oklahoma right now… Get somewhere safe!!!” Miranda Lambert tweeted, “”Pray. That’s all we can do. Pray for peace for Oklahoma.”

Carrie Underwood tweeted, “Growing up in tornado alley, you always know what could happen. It doesn’t change how devastating it is when something does happen.”

Toby Keith tweeted, “This storm has devastated the community that I grew up in. I rode my bike through those neighborhoods. I have family and friends in Moore. My heart and prayers go to those that have lost so much. But Moore is strong and we will persevere. God be with you all.”

As a country music fan, it gives me such comfort and a feeling of respect toward these stars to see their kind words to the people of Oklahoma, even though they may not be able to be there in person. Never forget where you came from.
