Braids, especially side braids are my go-to look during the summer months. It’s fast, easy and usually looks better than just a messy bun or a ponytail (not that I’m knocking those). I really like braids when going out for a day at the beach or just hanging out in the sun with friends. They are the perfect accessory to any hat, although the look can also be dressed up for a more fancy look. The options are endless with braids. I’ve put together a few inspiration photos, I hope you enjoy!
Fishtail braids are surprisingly simple to do:
1. Separate your hair into two pieces
2. Grab small sections from each side and cross them over, one by one, pulling the pieces to that particular side
3. Finish off with a clear elastic band
(It does take a little more time than a regular braid, but it’s worth it because a fishtail braid is a lot more secure than a regular braid and is better for people with layered hair.)

The above look is simple, especially if you don’t braid the sides of your hair. Just put your hair into a high ponytail and braid, then wrap the braid around and pin it in place with bobby pins.
The Halo/Crown Braid

Try the look with a thick head-band like was done on the Valentino fall runways in Paris.
Braids are such a chic look when done right… which brings us to our next topic…
When Braids Go Wrong
