We love her as Elena, we love her style and we love digging into her love life… who knew we could love her any more than we already do?! We’re talking about Nina Dobrev and her philanthropic work. Yupp, she’s a great actress with an ever-growing career and she still finds the time to give back. What have you done lately, lol??

Variety recognized Dobrev, along with a select group of young stars, as honorees at its seventh annual Power of Youth gathering, set for July 27 at Universal Studios. The Variety Power of Youth GenerationOn Award recognizes young stars who are dedicated to philanthropic or charitable causes. Among the guests set to attend the celebration are the children and families who have been helped in some way by the honorees. Our little Nina is recognized for her involvement with Free the Children, which works to empower youth to be agents of change.

Variety publisher Michelle Sobrino praises these young stars for being so passionate in giving back. “Celebrating Hollywood’s most influential youth alongside the very people whose lives they’ve impacted is what makes this event so special,” says Sobrino.“These honorees, in partnership with their individual charities, are igniting change and leading their peers, fans and communities by example. Power of Youth shines a spotlight on these incredible leaders, and hopes to inspire future young entertainers to continue in their footsteps.”

We love to see this kind of action taking place in Hollywood. So often, stars seem to sit on their mounds of money and shut out the problems of the world. But stars like Dobrev are willing to make a difference. In fact, Dobrev is no stranger to giving back. A few months back, Dobrev (along with ex Ian Somerhalder) took a trip to Toronto to visit a sick TVD fan in the hospital (see the story here). Although it was a small gesture, it is obvious that these stars are dedicating to giving back.

Congratulations to the honorees! This award truly matters, keep it up Dobrev!
