Upcoming 2014 Spring Trends
I always love that time when the seasons are about to change and new trends and styles are just around the corner. Well my friends it is almost that time. Spring is right around the corner and it’s time to make sure that you have the appropriate fashion to start the season off right. Below are some of my favorite trends that should be easy for us normal gals to recreate this Spring.
BCBG Max Azria | Clavin Klein
Cropped Jackets- The boxy look of these jackets really helps to add a vintage and ladylike feel to a typical jacket. The cropped boxy shape will look perfect in a variation of prints and textures and can be paired with dresses, tailored trousers, and even jeans.
Prada | Céline
Artist Prints- Museum-worthy patterns and a lot of vibrant colors are the best way to describe this new trend.
Alexander Wang | Tod’s Spring Runway
Button-down Shirts- Some were worn all the way buttoned up on the runways… this look is probably a bit too scandalous for work, but I’m sure us normal gals can button the rest of the buttons.
Vera Wang | Christan Dior
Sequins- Multi-layered seqins in all shapes and colors will be sparkling all around this Spring.
Marni | Proenza Schouler
Tea-length skirt- Not quite a midi, not quite a maxi… the tea-length has a very ladylike feel and it a twist on last years “skirt” craze.
Calvin Klein | Derek Lam
Fringe- Boho fashionistas around the world are rejoicing, and while this might not be my favorite trend of the season, it’s certainly one that I have a feeling we will see a lot. Try and let the fringe be the stand-out part of your look and have the rest of the look be simple.
Vera Wang | Balenciaga
Crop Tops- Keep doing those crunches girls because crop tops are everywhere lately and it looks like they are not going anywhere.
Salvatore Ferragamo | Chloé
Unexpected Pleats- No longer just for school girls; pleats are given the high-fashion treatment this season, giving the look a more mature and modern feel. Just remember: it’s still NOT OK to wear
puffy crotch pleated pants.
Altuzarra | Rochas
Metallic Fabric- High shine metallic colors in every shade are very in this season. I’ll be interested to see if this trend makes it to the streets.
Calvin Klein | Burberry Prorsum
Shift Blouse- Finally, something that we can wear while eating a sandwich. The shift blouse is pretty much a dressy shirt and is so great because it conceals any tummy problems. I have a feeling I’ll be getting a few of these this Spring.
Burberry Prorsum | Giorgio Armani
Pastels/Blush- To be honest, this color makes me think of a bridesmaid dress… BUT the more I see it, the more I like it. It just has to be worn with the appropriate pieces to avoid looking overly girly.
Salvatore Ferragamo | Chloé
Whites- The color white has been very popular for a while now and it is not going anywhere. The crisp color screams simplicity and always gives off a fresh look.
