The GRAMMYs Award Show proves year after year to be truly unforgettable. Every year, we are witness to some of the most exciting and inspiring performances ever. The 2014 GRAMMYs were no different. Although you have probably heard the news, we must share it again.

You may think that nothing can top monumental performances by acts like Paul McCartney, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Pink and Imagine Dragons… but you would be wrong! During the inspiring, collaborative performance of “Same Love” by Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert, history was made.

Following their performance, our very own Queen Latifah returned to the stage as the cameras panned through the audience. Amongst the audience was a gathering of smiling couples of all shapes, sizes and creeds waiting to be married! The Queen herself officiated the ceremony from the stage… who knew she had so much power?? The audience roared with screams and applause following the Queen’s announcement, “I now pronounce you a married couple!” The 2014 GRAMMYs played host to the marriage of 33 gay and straight couples!

After the ceremony, Queen Latifah was all smiles. Backstage, she explained that she is not an ordained minister but a commissioner for the state of California and said,

“You can call me Queen Commish for a little longer.”

She also expressed what an honor it was to be part of this night. She said,

“To have your wedding in front of 100 million people is pretty momentous. I can say I was here and that will not leave me. I look forward to dashing off and signing all their wedding certificates.”

What an amazing night… Congrats to the happy couples and to Queen Latifah for her ordained minister duties!
