Movie Review: That Awkward Moment

That Awkward Moment personifies a Dead Zone movie release. A romantic comedy with three up and coming stars ( Zac Efron, Miles Teller & Michael B. Jordan) that is nothing like the trailers shown to the public. That Awkward Moment is the story of three New York City hipster buddies who decide to make a pact to stay single.  The guys’ plan is to avoid getting seriously involved with their dating pool or “roster,” as they like to put it. Of course, in true romantic comedy form, the trio gets entangled in relationships that make them choose whether to commit or stay in single mode.

I see a bright future for Efron, Teller and especially Michael B. Jordan, but That Awkward Moment will not be the film to showcase their budding talents. That Awkward Moment wants to disguise itself as a raunchy guy movie, but it’s nothing more than a formulaic chick flick with its “I screwed up but I really love you” moments. That Awkward Moment makes the men and the women of the film look like dumb, pathetic losers with no backbone.

The other problem with That Awkward Moment is it’s just not funny. To be honest, it’s a total snoozefest. You would think with the R rating the filmmakers would have pushed the boundaries, but it is actually quite tame. That Awkward Moment isexactly what you would expect from a Dead Zone release; a mess of a movie that lacks any charm. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Overall I give That Awkward Moment 1 out of 4 stars.
