Fashion trends are cyclical, as one generation grows out of a trend over time, it will disappear for a while until the next generation stumbles upon it. Trying to forecast trends coming in the future can be easily done by looking to our past. That’s why on this day — “throwback Thursday,” I’ve decided to put together a list of things that were huge trends a few years or even decades ago that are now coming back in a big way.

1 | Shell-toe Adidas

Who didn’t own a pair of these back in the 90s? I know I certainly did. Rita Ora announced her partnership with Adidas Originals earlier this year and has been seen in them ever since, and one of our favorite fashion bloggers Sincerely Jules has recently been sporting the “new” footwear.

2 | Overalls

I talked about overalls here last summer and while I have seen bloggers and some famous fashionistas wearing them, I haven’t seen many out on the streets of Tampa. I think it may take a little more time for this trend to catch on but I have a feeling this summer we will be seeing overalls a lot more.

I really love the way our girl Sheryl over at walkinwonderland.com styled hers below. The look is relaxed, yet feminine and super flattering.

3 | Jean Jackets

This trend was huge in the 90s, but lately we have seen a resurgence and I for one am very happy about that! Not only do jean jackets match just about everything, including other denim, they are perfect for adding a causal laid-back feel to any outfit.

4 | Flare Leg Jeans

Just recently we started seeing the wide flare leg jeans come back into style. These jeans are one of those styles that are universally flattering on just about all women. The trick is to make sure you wear them with a tight shirt on top and a heel. This will help elongate your entire body.

So if you’ve learned anything today don’t throw away anything. The trends of today may be out tomorrow, but you never know when they’ll be back!
