I’ve always had a weird thing with eyebrows. People with great eyebrows get my attention, because I’m extremely jealous of them. I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with mine, but I’m working on changing that.

There are “brow bars” in NYC, meaning a place of business that ONLY deals with eyebrows. Obviously these simple (or not so simple) strips of hair above our eyes are pretty important and it’s time to start giving them the attention they deserve. And there is no better place to look for inspiration than the lovely ladies of Hollywood.

Important questions to think about:

1 | Are my eyebrows too thin?

-This is a common problem that a lot of women have, especially because thin brows were popular not too long ago. Also eyebrows will become thinner as you age so don’t over tweeze or wax when you’re young.

2 | Do I have the proper brow shape?

-If you’ve never tweezed your brows before then this part is easy, use your natural shape as a guideline and get rid of the unwanted hairs. If you’ve tweezed for years you probably have no idea what your brows should look like, let them grow out and use that as a guideline.

-Eyebrows can be round, soft angled, angled, curved or flat – find out which one you are and work with that shape, don’t try to change it.

3 | Do my brows have the proper arch?

-Some eyebrows will have no arch and if that’s the case do not try to add one, it will look strange. Like I stated above, use your natural arch as a guideline and go from there.

4 | How do I fix my eyebrows?

-If you know your eyebrows need some work, my best advice is to leave them alone. Grow them out for a few weeks or a month. This is going be hard, but it will give you somewhat of a fresh start.

-Figure out what shape your eyebrows are and work with that shape, don’t try to change your brows, just enhance them.

-Color them in… sometimes all you need is an eyebrow pencil or some shadow to make your brows stand out. Just be careful that they don’t look drawn on.

-Buy a stencil… eyebrowz.com is a great resource on all things eyebrows and you can buy an eyebrow stencil to make your life even easier.

-This video has a lot of great information and a tutorial on how to use the stencil >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JeCV8-Lgww
