I’ve spent a great deal of time discussing the greatness that was the movie class of 1994. Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Dumb and Dumber and The Lion King were all released during that [...]
Rise of the Planet of the Apes became a surprise hit in 2011 and was declared the best prequel ever. I loved Rise, but I hate that the word prequel is attached to that film. Sure, there are easter eggs which hint a connection to the classic Planet of the Apes franchise, but let’s be honest. Those minor links are really nothing more than homage to the original series. Think Like A Man may have been a surprise hit that started a pattern of box office success for Kevin Hart, but it was not a funny at all.
Guy Pearce is one of those actors that should be a bigger star. The guy shines in roles such as Memento, L.A. Confidential and The King’s Speech yet is still left off Hollywood’s A-list when it comes to big roles.
When it comes to comedy sequels, I have only one observation.
