The official first day of summer starts next week and in Florida you must be prepared. Having the essential beauty products can make all the difference during the ridiculously hot summer months. Being that I’ve lived in Florida my entire life, I do believe that I am well versed on the subject, so here it goes:

Bright colors are a great way to look summery, as well as make you look tan… BONUS!

Maxi Skirts

Tip: If you don’t own any maxi skirts but have a maxi dress, put a buttoned down shirt over your dress to give the illusion of a skirt, roll up the sleeves or tie up the shirt to give it your own spin. Chambray shirts are great for this!

Wide-brimmed Hats

While in Cozumel, Mexico on vacation I used a wide-brim hat to keep the sun off my face and shoulders and still look cute after swimming in the ocean all day. (Notice the CW44 coozie and my love of neon!)

Just when you thought that it had all been done before, a new shade shifting nail polish has been invented. The color changes from dark to light, depending on the temperature. This topcoat transforms into a new shade in the same color palette — darker if you’re cold, lighter if you’re warm. Head to the salon and ask your nail technician about it.

Not Your Mother’s- Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Beach Babe spray

I recently stumbled across this product and am in love with it, it smells great and is perfect for achieving that “just left the beach” hair. I found my bottle on sale at Ulta for $4.99. Below you’ll see an example of how I wore the product in my hair. Just spray on dry hair, scrunch and go!

Summer Make-Up Essentials

  • Non-melting lipsticks- It’s a no-brainer why you would need this product in the Florida heat. (Especially for this lip-stick lover!)
  • Waterproof mascara- I’m not usually a fan on water-proof mascara because it’s sometimes difficult to get off, but during the Florida summer heat it’s essential!
  • Foundation with sunscreen- Another no-brainer, even if you think you’re not going to be in the sun, you should always have some sort of sun protection on your face. This will keep wrinkles at bay and keep you looking younger longer.

My list could probably go on and on, I didn’t even mention sunglasses!! Guess I’ll have to save that for another post! Check back later for more summer beauty essentials!
