In the advent of vampires and werewolves, a 90s fashion trend has reappeared on the scene. Evidently pale skin, purple lips and black hair aren’t just for the undead anymore. The goth look is creeping its way back into the fashion world.

Although the modern goth is not as haunting and dark as she once was (think Lyida Deetz in Beetlejuice), she has returned with some of her macabre essence in tact.

Lorde has managed to take modern goth on without hesitation and in the most simple way. Her perfect, pale skin is enhanced only with a swipe of black liner and bold, plum lips.

Kim Kardashian posted this unusual pic to Instagram with the caption “💀 gothic keeks 💀.” Her modern goth features raven colored locks, dark eye makeup and deep purple lips.

Rihanna believes that goth is in the details. She chooses a thick, black cat eye, bright red lips and a spiked choker.

Kylie Jenner lets her lips do the talking. Her black lip takes control of her subtly makeuped face.

Each girl embodied goth in her own way, but each girl began her walk on the dark side with the right lipstick. The bold shades below are perfect picks for your goth starter kit.

The modern goth is not Casper white. Try a sheer powder with a slightly lighter tone than your skin to give an even and soft look to your face. Then, top it all off with a thick, dark liner.

So the stars are wearing it and we know how to recreate it, but is it a trend that we want to try? You decide!
