18-year-old Tampa resident Maryah Sullivan is a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida in Eatonville. Maryah graduated from Edgewater High School with a 4.4 GPA. She just started her freshman year at the University of South Florida. She wants to go onto medical school and become a neurosurgeon. She is the first in her family to be accepted into college. During her 11 years at her local Boys & Girls Club, Maryah started a “Big Sister/Big Brother” program not to be confused with the organization. As the eldest sibling in her family, she wanted to create a mentoring program for the older club youth to give back to the younger ones. Maryah is the 2014 “Boys & Girls Club Youth Of The Year” recipient. She received over $60,000 in scholarship money. For the first time in the programs history all six finalists were female. Maryah will appear on Friday’s episode of The Queen Latifah Show to talk about her work with the Boys & Girls Club.
