SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UP ON JANE THE VIRGIN (or make your own decisions and keep reading)
Veronica (my 44 on the Town co-host) and I are super fans of the new CW series Jane the Virgin. We have quickly become two obsessed abuelas who can’t get enough of their favorite telenovela. Each week, we come together to recount the dramatic occurrences that we witnessed that Monday night. This time, we come together to bring you our precarious predictions for the season finale of a show that we think is “Muy bueno!”
1. Rafael Bails
Both of my predictions are about the Solano family. First, Rafael has been going through A LOT: A divorce from a crazy ex-wife, finding out that another woman is pregnant with his child, starting a relationship with said baby mama… Now add his father’s murder and the pressure of having the responsibility to run the family hotel. Just to name a few. Considering that mental illness runs in the family, I totally predict Rafael having some sort of major breakdown.
2. Louisa’s Revenge
My second prediction involves Raphael’s sister, Louisa. Although she is well aware that her stepmother/former lover is her father’s murderer, I think Louisa will reunite with Rose. Louisa is pretty unstable. She is also angry that her brother institutionalized her. I think she will somehow team up with Rose (Sin Rostro) and plot out some sort of revenge against Raphael.
3. Jane and Michael Reconnect
There has always been a deep and beautiful connection between Jane and Michael. At the start of season 1, they were truly in love. Sure, Jane’s pregnancy and baby daddy drama caused a bit of a riff, but love can conquer all… right? Michael has continuously tried to put a wrench between Jane and Rafael. And there was that moment Michael and Jane shared in the elevator while Alba was in the hospital. AND wasn’t it Michael who saved Alba from being deported?! This man is on a mission. Michael has stayed so diligent in trying to get Sin Rostro because he’s a good cop, but also because his investigation keeps him close to the woman he loves. I predict that in the season finale, we will see Jane and Michael reconnect in an undeniable way.
4. Michael Dies
So, remember all that sweet, lovey-dovey stuff I said in the paragraph above? Well, prepared to be depressed. Although I still believe that Jane and Michael may have a touching and romantic moment together, I feel something ominous is waiting in Michael’s path. He knows far too much about Sin Rostro’s true identity and her underground business to remain safe much longer. He has become obsessed with outing and pinning a laundry list of crimes on Sin Rostro, and that is something criminals don’t usually stand for. Need more evidence? Remember Chapter 10, the episode that showed Michael saving Alba from deportation? Near the end of this episode, the ever-foreshadowing narrator added a creepy little line to his monologue emphasizing that Michael would never give up on his love for Jane. He said, “And for as long as Michael lived, until he drew his very last breath… he never did.” That sounds pretty scary to me! My prediction is that, after having a loving moment with Jane, Michael may not see it through to season 2.
