Lupus is an incurable autoimmune disease that affects some 1.5 million Americans and an estimated 5 million people worldwide. Nine out of ten lupus patients are women with the average age of onset between 14 and 45. Lupus is significantly more prevalent in people of color. Linda Ruescher, a lupus patient herself, is the program director for the Lupus Foundation of Florida. On this episode of Bayside, we’ll talk to her about the disease and their upcoming fundraiser.
