Some folks like a hot alcoholic drink when the weather turns cooler here in Tampa Bay. One of these favorites is the hot toddy. Some just like the hot toddy for the warm, cozy feeling they get while drinking it and some swear by its soothing abilities on a sore throat. If you’d like to make one of your own, follow the recipe below. However, if you want to leave it to the professionals to mix up this delicious concoction, check out any of these great Tampa Bay locales.


  • 1 ounce whiskey, rum or brandy
  • 1 tea bag
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 quarter lemon
  • Cloves and cinnamon


  1. Coat the bottom of a glass coffee mug with honey.
  2. Make hot tea separately to your taste and pour over honey.
  3. Add your whiskey of choice.
  4. Add cloves or cinnamon.
